Established in 1907, Kirkwoods Monumental Sculptors is a family-run memorial firm offering a premium quality monumental service. Whether you need a new memorial or would like to add inscriptions to an existing memorial, we will provide you with tailor-made services to suit your specific needs.
We are situated on the outskirts of Belfast beside the Dundonald Cemetery with our own workshop on site, where we display a range of memorials in our showroom and forecourt. We also have an ample car parking area for our customers should you wish to visit.
We are fully compliant with Belfast City Council's requirements for safety of installation and memorial quality.

At Kirkwoods Monumental Sculptors, we use only the finest quality granite, marble and natural stone, both locally sourced and imported from around the world. If you have a unique idea or have seen something unusual, we will be happy to discuss it and try to accommodate it into your monument with Dex, our experienced designer.
We aim to provide a high-quality service with results that both honour your loved one and friends, and showcase some of their personality or history from their life. From start to finish, we work closely with you to ensure all your memorial needs are satisfied.

Kirkwoods Monumental Sculptors are fully equipped and skilled to restore older headstones and memorials back to their former glory. Our experienced sculptors can repair damage and restore lettering, artwork and inscriptions to their original state.

I am the manager at Kirkwoods. I have worked in the monumental trade for almost 20 years. Having started as an apprentice in 2004, I can now say I have learnt every aspect of the job, inside and out.
Early on I took a keen interest in the lettering, artwork and design side of the job. My main role now as, well as insuring the smooth running of the business and staff is:
- Letter new and existing memorials.
- To create pieces of unique and personal artwork to be forever engraved onto granite memorials.
I place several orders every year from suppliers around the world to keep our prices very competitive and our stock current up to date.
I am pleased to say I have designed several bespoke memorials for families who wanted something special to them, and its being able to help people with things like this that make my job very rewarding.

I joined the team at Kirkwoods as office manager in 2015. I am usually the first contact you will have with the company either in person, on the telephone or by email.
I will guide you through the process of choosing the best memorial for your requirements. This includes helping with the inscription if needed or making suggestions on how best to word an additional inscription on an existing memorial or refurbishing an old one.
I also carry out all the administration work and make sure I am always up to date with all council and church regulations and fees, so that the permits for your work are passed as smoothly and quickly as possible.
I take great pride in knowing that all our customer's needs have been met in a caring and sensitive manner at what is a difficult and emotional time in people’s lives.

I joined Kirkwoods as an apprentice sculptor in January 2016. I came to the company without any previous experience. However, 4 years later I am now a fully qualified monumental sculptor.
When I started, my main role was to shadow Dex and to learn from him. Dex taught me how to inscribe our granite memorials using modern engraving tools and techniques. I have also learned more traditional skills such as the art of gilding using gold leaf which is something that few Sculptors still use.
Although my role in Kirkwoods has little interaction with our customers, I take great encouragement when receiving feedback from them that my high standard of work is greatly appreciated when producing a fitting memorial for their loved one.
